My husband thought I was completely Loopy when I bought Loopy here -
in fact I think he was lost for words when I told him what I paid for
him. (He did ask!) Now comes the moment of truth as Loopy has to
find a new home.
I'm not the only one to think he's special as he is listed in the
Steiff sortiment book as price band 6-7. That may be because he was
produced in 1964 only and so he may be one of very few made. He is
in very good condition with a lovely soft clean coat, his
button, label and chest tag.
Loopy is 25 cms nose to bum and he's about 22 cms high. He's solid
stuffed with a long soft mohair coat in a creamy colour and with
brown/grey airbrushed markings on his back, neck and tail. His legs
and muzzle are close cropped, he has black and orange piercing eyes
(come to think of it - a bit like my husband looked on the evening in
question). Loopy has a stitched black nose and mohair ears. It feels
like he has a push squeaker in his chest which although springy no
longer works.
Loopy has a small silver coloured button with Steiff in raised
script and a two prong attachment in his ear. His label has had the
price section snipped off and, although it is quite aged, you can
still read his EAN number - 1325,00 which dates him to 1964 only. He
also still wears his bearshead chest tag which says "Loopy" in blue
writing.
Well - that's it - he's listed and now it's over to you. My husband
will no doubt be watching this with interest to see if he was right
all along. I hope you are all on my side or I might be seeing that
look again!

Made by Steiff exclusively for Harrods of Knightsbridge, London, this
is the beautiful and now hard to find musical 'Poet Bear'. The bear is
made of golden mohair, is fully jointed, and measures approximately 34
cm in height. He has pale brown felt paw and foot pads, has black eyes
and hand embroidered claws and nose. Around his neck is a white neck
ruffle based on an original sixteenth century design, and in his right
paw he carries a quill. The Poet Bear has a Swiss musical movement
which plays 'Gavotte' by Johann Sebastian Bach. He has the Steiff
white tag and button in ear, and comes complete with his scroll
certificate and original box. He is number 398 in a limited edition of
2000 pieces.
