HORNBY CLASS 25 D5206 green livery
This is a Hornby class 25 in BR green livery. Loco is original and
carries the livery variation that was applied in the 1980s to mark the
end of use of these locomotives. Loco has "domino" head code, as per
70s/80s and also the standard BR yellow warning pannel. This loco
would fit in well with layouts of the late 60s up to the mid 80s. Very
useful and very collectable ! Loco comes boxed and all is in very good

GREEN. THE LOCO IS SUITABLE FOR ANY LATE 50'S, EARLY 60'S RAILWAY OR
REPRESENTING THE LOCO IN IT S PRESERVED CONDITION ON THE
GLOUCESTERSHIRE RAILWAY. THE FAN GRILLE HAS BEEN REPLACED BY AN ETCHED
BRASS A1 ITEM, WITH COOLING FAN VISIBLE UNDERNEATH. THREE LINK
COUPLINGS HAVE REPLACED THE ORIGINAL UGLY TENSION LOCK, AND VAC PIPES
ETC HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE BUFFER BEAM. THE BODY WAS THEN RESPRAYED BR
GREEN, AND THE WHITE BODYSIDE STRIPES ADDED. THESE ARE NOT 100%
PERFECT BUT LOOK OK AT NORMAL VIEWING DISTANCE. LIMA'S PLASTIC
HANDRAILS ARE INCLUDED BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN FITTED. THE LOCO HAS BEEN
EXHIBITED AT A NUMBER OF MODEL RAILWAY SHOWS IN THE CHELTENHAM AREA
OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

UNBOXED
The loco is the 1979 Hornby version with the smaller central front
window and the first of the models with the running number D7596. It
has headcodes that light up depending on which direction you are
running. It is unboxed. It is a very smooth performer which appears to
have had little use judging by the traction tyres and wheels. There is
a mark on the roof which is visble in the gallery photographs and this
marks the loco down from near mint.There are several supersize images
in the gallery if you click the link below so you may judge the
condition for yourself. The introduction of the Bachmann model has not
taken away the collectability of the Hornby version which is ideal for
the modeller not wanting all that easily damaged detail.
