Scottish Silver Agate Gaelic Celtic Knot Brooch
No one can deny the Victorian Styling of this lovely Agate Brooch, the
design of which was first used and documented by Joseph Cook and Sons,
Silversmiths,of the "Hibernian Works" in 1880, following Queen
Victoria's infatuation of all things Scottish and her retreat to
Balmoral following the death of Prince Albert .
This is a quality craftsman made piece, made of SOLID SILVER with
inset green and red agates. It is marked on the rear "925" indicating
it is FINE STERLING SILVER.
The brooch has a pin and safety catch and measures a large 1.5" in
diameter.
The Celtic Knot was a symbol of the thread of life in Victorian Times
and was a very romantic gift for a loved one.
