This is one of many lots Iâll be offering over the next few weeks as
Iâve had a massive clearout and realized that I have hundreds of
comics that I collected 25-30 years ago, or ones that Iâve acquired
while filling gaps, that I no longer need. I also need to raise a lot
of money for the charity Scope as Iâm going to do a 100km trek
through a jungle for them next year, so all proceeds will go to them
and therefore no high reserves.
All of these comics are in very good condition (Iâve thrown away the
really bad ones) as theyâve been in plastic bags, in the loft for
years. Iâm not sure how to grade them but will comment on any
particular problems. The spines are all intact and no coupons or pages
are missing or written on, but any free gifts have been used long ago.
Around half of them have the name of the buyer in pen or pencil on one
of the covers and I can answer any individual questions that you may
ask.
Postage is paid by the buyer but I will send them anyway you want so
as to reduce cost. I accept Paypal but will talk about cheques etc but
it will obviously delay delivery.
Happy bidding and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did (do)!

The House of Secrets
D. C. Comics
Issue #125 – Nov 1974
· This is a 1974 U.S Comic.
· Published by monthly by National Periodical Publications Inc.
· The condition of the comic is good for its age.
· It has 24 pages.
· This is issue number 125 Vol. 17, in the House of Secrets Comic
run.
· There is no rusting to the staples and the cover is still firmly
attached to the comic.
· There is some rounding of the comic near the spine as my step-dad
has had a lot of them in piles in a suitcase in his attic for over
thirty years! I have since packaged the comics up into individual
plastic wallets with a board to protect them.
· There is some wear along the edges of the pages and spine from
being read, there is an original price stamp on the front cover near
the hand (see photo).
· Inside the comic on the middle page the paper around the bottom
staple has torn slightly so the page isn’t attached there.Â
There is also a small tear near the bottom of the top staple into the
page.
· Otherwise the comic is in good condition, the cover is (as I have
mentioned earlier) a little worn but still bright and unfaded, the
inside of the comic remains quite bright with some discolouration to
the edges of the pages which is to be expected.
· The comic also has no writing in it even on the competition pages.
· If you want any further photos/condition details then please
contact me, it isn’t a problem I am very happy to help!
Over the next few days/weeks I will probably be listing the remainder
of the comics from the suitcase so it may be worth checking my
auctions occasionally if you are looking for a specific issue of a
1960’s – 1970’s comic.
House of Secrets Info
House of Secrets was a horror anthology comic book series published by
DC Comics. It featured two or three stories of horror and suspense in
each issue. These tales were introduced by a character named Abel, who
was also one of the hosts of Plop! and who later became a recurring
character in The Sandman. It had a companion title called House of
Mystery.
A Brief History of D.C. Comics
Many early comic books were simply collections of comic strips. The
commercial success of these collections led to work being created
specifically for the comic book form, which fostered such comic book
specific techniques as the splash page and the two-page spread.

DC Comics is one of the largest companies in comic book and related
media publishing. DC is responsible for such famous characters as
Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. For decades, DC
Comics has been one of the two largest American comic book companies,
the other being Marvel Comics.
The company was originally three companies, National Allied
Publications, Detective Comics and All-American Publications. The
first two companies merged in the 1930s to become National Comics
(later National Periodical Publications) and the third shared offices
until it was bought by the merged company in 1945. At this time "DC",
an acronym for Detective Comics, was simply an informal logo regularly
used on the cover.
