Dandy comic No. 219 (1942) Rare: VG+!
Dated July 25th 1942.
A VG+ example with just the lightest of tanning to pages and bright
colour covers. The centre pages are loose but fit tightly and snugly
in place. A couple of light creases to the rear cover corners, the odd
corner crease and a thin dustshadow to the very top edge of an inner
page. A lovely example, and RARE!
I am also currently auctioning Beano comic 101 from 1940, and Dandy
comic 99 from 1939, both with war time propaganda cover themes, so

Beano comic No. 101 (1940) Very Fine- [vfn-] example: RARE!
Dated June 29th 1940.
The war was nearly a year in at this stage and propaganda was very
apparent in the comics. Here we see the barrage balloons, aka blimps,
in the cover Big Eggo story, designed to be buoyant in the air so that
German warplanes flying over would become entangled in them and crash.
Any Beano comics pre-1946 are difficult to find, and pre-1940 issues
are especially collectable. This is a superb example which has had
very little handling. A name in pencil to top front margin. Lovely
bright fresh cover colours and strong pages. No real faults to report;
the lightest of tanning to pages, the odd light foxing mark, the inner
pages are loose from the covers but sit snugly in place, a very light
crease to the right hand edge of cover. A small tear to the very top
of spine, the centre and the base of spine. Overall a super example;
very fine- [vfn-].
I am also currently auctioning Dandy comic 99, which also has a war
theme; Korky is acting as an ARP (air raid precaution) warden and the
cover theme emphasis the importance of the black-out.
