This auction is for an internal 24x speed CD rom drive for the compaq
Armada series laptop,
The model number on the drive is CDR-U241-V with a date of 1999 and is
a genuine compaq part
The drive always worked well and never let me down when i used to use
it, this was some time ago and has been stored since but as i no
longer have a compaq laptop to test it i will have to sell it as
untested so no refunds will be given
The drive itself is in good condition and i can see no reason why it
would not still work ok as it has only been carefully stored since
last use

REPLACED AT SOURCE BY 'DVD' ROMS. THE CD-ROMS WERE PLACED BACK IN THE
BUBBLE WRAPS THE DVD'S CAME IN AND PUT INTO STORAGE. 3 YEARS LATER WE
HAVE IN EFFECT BRAND NEW , UNUSED, IN PRISTINE CONDITION CD ROM DRIVES
FOR A MASS VARIETY OF LAPTOPS!!
IT IS THE OUTER CASE THAT GENERALLY DETERMINES WHICH LAPTOP IT FITS,
BUT THE INNER TRAY, THE ACTUAL CD-ROM DRIVE, WILL FIT MANY LAPTOPS,
SUMTIMES REQUIRING THE OLD DRIVE CARCASE TO REFIT INTO THE MACHINE.
THIS IS FAIRLY EASY TO ACHIEVE, BUT DOES INVOLVE A STEADY TECHNICAL
HAND. WE CAN'T REALLY GIVE ANY WARRANTY, NEITHER CAN THE MANUFACTURER,
BUT AS AN ACT OF GOOD FAITH, ANYBODY BUYING 10 UNITS, WILL BE ASSIGNED
AN 11th ONE FREE OF CHARGE!!
LAPTOP CD ROM DRIVES WERE FEW AND FAR IN DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS, SO,
COMPARATIVELY VERY FEW DIFFERENT MODELS, CONSEQUENTLY, THE INNERS OF
THE CD-ROM ARE SUCH THAT THEY ACTUALLY FIT MANY BRANDS OF LAPTOP
COMPUTERS!!!! IF YOU ARE IN THE TECHNICAL dept OF LAPTOP REPAIRS, YOU
WILL ALREADY KNOW THIS.
