The Pashmina Story
Pashmina, from the persian word for wool, is popularly known in the
west as cashmere wool, from the old spelling for kashmir. The fine
woolcomes from the undercoat of himalayan mountain goat, raised by
semi-nomadic herders. It yields 3-8ounces of fiber per year. The
Tibetan plateau provides the ideal enviroment for pashmina growth.
The value of the pashmina are not only for its rarity but also for the
pashmina products are far beyond the reach of the products woven by
wool and other fibers which the consumers are familiar with.
Especially,the pashmina produced in China is entitled "diamond fiber"
, which is far ahead of that produced in other areas in respect of
fiber elasticity, fiber length, finess, whiteness and colors etc.
In recent year, pashmina shawl has been in fashion all over the world
for its luxuarious rarity, its incomparable softness, warmth and
durability.
