EASY-MEASURE GULLET STEPS To Use Wintec's Easy Measure Gauge follow this Simple 4-step Guide: Hold the saddle in a vertical position so the cantle is pointing towards the ground and the seat of the saddle is facing towards you. Keeping the saddle in this position place the saddle between yourself and the edge of a table or bench. This provides you with leverage and easy access to the head of the saddle. Step 1 1. Place a saddle on your horse's back, in the correct riding position and make note of a reference point directly underneath the saddle nail. Step 2 2. Remove the saddle and place the Easy-Measure Gauge vertically over your horse's wither. Align the Gauge with the reference point you previously noted. Step 3 3. Ensure the Gauge's bearing area is lying smoothly against the horse and the gauge is clear of your horse's wither. Step 4 4. The Gauge will now indicate the correct coloured gullet for your horse. Repeat this procedure to ensure your saddle stays comfortable for your horse. EASY-CHANGE GULLET STEPS EASY-CHANGE GULLET STEPS To Use Wintec's Easy Change Gullet System follow this Simple 6-step Guide: Hold the saddle in a vertical position so the cantle is pointing towards the ground and the seat of the saddle is facing towards you. Unscrew the two screws located under the skirts in the head of the saddle. Some models may have the screws located at the top of the chamber. See picture on the right. Alternative step 1 step 2 2. Pull away the velcroÂ® closure in the head of the saddle and pull the panel down from the point pockets freeing the front half of the panel. step 3 3. Remove the two screws at each end of the gullet plate. step 4 4. Fit new width gullet by only starting each screw until the gullet is lined up, then holding the gullet tight to the tree in the head of the saddle, fully tighten both screws. step 5 5. Re-fit the panel in the point pockets. step 6 6. Re-screw the head of the saddle and close velcroÂ® fastening. Important: Head screws must not be over-tightened. A firm pressure is all that's needed. 4. Spring Steel Gullet A Spring Steel Gullet ensures the head of the saddle stays completely rigid whilst allowing the seat flexibility. The Gullet is heat tempered in order to set the shape of the head of the saddle and guarantee the tree will never spread throughout the saddle's lifetime. Wintec saddles are available in six different gullet sizes from narrow to extra wide and are easily changed to alter the fit of the saddle over the horse's wither. The size of a gullet can be identified by its colour as listed below Spring steel gullet Extra Wide =White Wide = Red Medium Wide = Blue Medium = Black Medium Narrow = Green Narrow = Yellow EASY CARE & MAINTENANCE --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cleaning The Wintec range of saddles require no oiling or waxing. Equileather sections are essentially maintenance free and can be hosed down or wiped clean. To clean hi-grip sections featured on the Wintec 2000 and Pro saddles use a damp cloth and water or for more aggressive cleaning use soap and water. The nap of equisuede will not ride down however it is likely to rub smooth owing to the dirt and dust being embedded into the equisuede fibre of the material. The nap of the equisuede can be restored by cleaning it using a detergent and scrubbing it with a stiff brush, such as a fingernail brush. The best way to do this is to thoroughly wet the equisuede, apply detergent, scrub vigorously with a stiff brush and then fully rinse the detergent out of the equisuede and allow to dry. To remove any stubborn marks from hi-grip sections, equisuede, cloth or equileather sections of a Wintec saddle we recommend the using "Carr & Day & Martin Synthetic Saddle Cleaner" available in pressure packs. All Wintec saddles should be dried out of direct sunlight and heat or solvents should not be applied to the materials. Leather girth points should be cleaned with saddle soap and dressed with a good quality wax based leather cream. Do not use a an oil or greasy dressing as this will over soften the leather and cause the girth points to stretch. Synthetic girth points require no maintenance and should not be dressed with oil or wax. Maintenance Wintec saddles will require re-stuffing to ensure ample clearance is maintained on the horse's wither and should be checked periodically, every 3 - 6 months.
