Gulf Air Airbus A340 1/200 Scale Display Model Gulf Air is the national carrier of the three Gulf States of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Oman. Started in1950 as a small scale airline called the Gulf Aviation Company. BOAC (now British Airways) became a major shareholder in 1951 and enjoyed a prosperous union for 20 years before selling their shares to the three respective governments. In 1974 the three states signed a foundation treaty and Gulf Air was born. They have since continued to expanded and now serve 50 destinations worldwide. They are also firm believers in the use of the latest aviation technology available. This is shown in their choice of aircraft, namely the Airbus A320, A330 and A340. This 1/200 scale model represents one of the fleet of 9 four engine A340 airliners and is presented in their recently introduced striking gold, white and blue livery. Measuring 31.3cm in length and with a wingspan of 30.5cm. She comes with her own display stand that includes the Gulf Air logo and aircraft type. This gives this reproduction a total nose height of 12.0cm and 13.3cm to the top of the tail. She is an easy to construct push fit plastic replica, Do not be confused, this is not a toy or model kit. She requires no glue or paint and the livery and markings that includes the three state flags, hold doors and engine warnings have already been applied by the manufacturer using modern techniques, that give crisp, fine printed detail. The model is brand new, but the box you will receive has sustained some damage and were delivered as such, hence the low price. This box contains only seven simple parts. Fuselage, 2 detailed wings, detailed tail plane, tail, stand stem and base and she only takes about a minute to assemble! When these parts are put together you will own a high quality display model of a Gulf Air Airbus A340, that will look good on her own or as part of any model aircraft collection.
